Honey The Pug
The following is a sample email reading Catherine
gave to a client, Patti. Patti's response to the reading
is below Catherine's letter.
Hello Patti,
Here is what I have been able to get from Honey so
far. I’ll tell you, she has been one of the hardest
dogs for me to communicate with. Her energy seems to
be all over the place. It’s hard to get her to
settle down. Please tell me if any of this is true.
I want to go back & talk with her more, but I would
like to confirm some of this before going any further
with her.
She tells me that her food bowl is pink.
She said that her favorite place to sleep is by Dad.
She said that she’s scared all the time that
you’re going to leave her & never come back.
She says that someone in the house has been sick and
goes to the doctor a lot. She’s concerned about
that. But then something was said about someone working
at a doctor’s office???
She confirmed to me that she has allergies. She says
that it’s from her food. She would like to be
put on a raw diet. She doesn’t like the food that
you’re giving her & tells me that it’s
the food that makes her sick. She would love to be able
to eat what you eat.
She knows that she barks a lot but she says she can’t
help it. She wants to know if I can help her with her
anxiety and her barking. (I think I can & I’ll
tell you more about that later)
She doesn’t like to be left alone. She would
like to know when you’re going to leave and how
long you’re going to be gone. Can you play soft
music for her while you’re gone?
She would like to have another dog in the house. She
loves little kids, but thinks it would be great to have
another dog as a playmate. At the same time that she
was telling me this, I got the feeling that there’s
another dog in the house, but to her, she’s the
only one that matters. It’s been confusing. On
the one hand, I think she’s telling me she’s
the only dog. Then, the next time I brought it up, she
seems to be telling me that she’s the only one
that matters. Like there is another dog, but that dog
doesn’t count, or she doesn’t get along
with that dog. I’m really confused about this.
The only thing that I’m sure about with regard
to the subject of another dog is that she’s definitely
asking for another dog (or a different dog) to come
& live in the house.
She says her eyes water a lot. Her tail and her ears
itch. She loves to be brushed but it sometimes causes
her to itch more. She wants you to brush her in both
directions; with the hair & against the hair (does
that make sense?).
She knows that she spins a lot but she can’t
seem to stop it. She doesn’t know why she does
it. She says she thinks it’s mostly because she
gets so excited.
She loves to go for walks. I’m not sure if she’s
telling me she doesn’t get to go, or if she does,
I think she’s telling me they aren’t long
enough. She would prefer long morning walks.
Oh, there was something else about her butt, besides
it itching a lot; she said she has a problem with her
anal glands. Do you know anything about that?
I can tell you from talking with her that she has a
very sweet personality. She’s a pleaser. She’s
always trying to please. She loves you, your husband,
your sister & everyone that comes to the house.
Please tell me, if I’m on track with any of this
and then I’ll talk with you more about how I can
help with the anxiety, the barking & the spinning.
Oh….she said to tell you that she loves it when
you dress her up and if you wanted to paint her nails,
it would be okay. (HA! have fun getting her to settle
down for that ….my words, not hers)
I’m anxious to hear back from you. After I hear
back from you about some of this, I’ll either
write or call to explain how I can help with the anxiety
& the barking. The anxiety and her desire to please,
I believe, is the cause of all the spinning. I also
get the feeling that she’s a little bored, but
I need to talk with her about that some more. I’m
not sure why she would be bored because she seems to
be telling me that you have a pretty active household.
Someone is always coming & going. I’ll get
to the bottom of it during my next conversation with
her.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk with
her. While it’s a little challenging, she’s
also a delight & I look forward to talking with
her again and with trying to help her….and you.
In Joy,
Catherine
The following is Patti's response:
As I said in last nights email, I was amazed. First
of all I read where you said she told you her food bowl
is pink. I thought, well that one is wrong, as her bowl
is white with a green rim. But, I thought I would double
check. Well, guess what, the bottom of her food bowl
is a large pink apple. That is what she would see as
her bowl, the bottom.
Her favorite place to sleep is by Dad.
We have been reassuring her when we have to leave that
we will be back and when. It seems to have a calming
effect on her.
We have had a ton of Doctors appointments lately. My
husband has several and so did I over the last few weeks,
so that was right on. (We took her with us when we went
yesterday)
We did know that she doesn't like to be alone. And yes,
she has allergies. If she had her way she would eat
only what we eat. She loves table food, but I think
that is normal. We have her on ZD Science Diet, which
is for extreme allergies and she seems ok with it, altho
it really didn't help the allergies.
We will definitely play music for her when we go without
her from now on.
I had to laugh at the part about another dog. My sister’s
dog comes to visit and Honey loves her being here. We
also have 2 cats, but she is right about being the only
one that matters in her mind. We have spoiled her rotten
since the day we got her when she was 6 wks old. And
with 2 cats and a dog, we are not going to be able to
get another dog. She has tons of stuffed dogs and teddy
bears, and on occasion she and the cats will play and
run together.
Her eyes water sometimes, and she does get a lot of
goopy stuff there. Yes, she itches, all over. She does
love to be brushed and I know what she means about with
and against the hair.
She does like to go for walks. She doesn't get to very
often, but that is something we are going to start doing
more often. And, yes she has just recently had problems
with her anal glands. This is the first time in over
3 years, but they have been filling up and I have to
have them emptied every so often. They do bother her.
And, yes she is a pleaser. She is the sweetest dog.
She loves everyone, people, animals and little kids.
She loves to go to Lowes and have everyone pay attention
to her.
I agree about the nails, I think that would be a riotous
impossibility to get her to settle down for that. She
doesn't like her feet being handled much.
I don't honestly know for sure, but it seems since you
contacted her she has calmed down a bit, listens to
us better, and was very good in the car yesterday. I
hope and pray it continues. I would love for you to
continue this conversation with her. It is amazing to
me that you can do this. I wish I could! You are definitely
on the right track. And, yes she is a challenge.
Thank you so much for your continuing help. Patti M.
